Liverpool Biennial Projects

Dani writes with news of upcoming events that you should consider seeing…

The Liverpool Biennial is happening at the moment; it started on Saturday 20th September and finishes Sunday 30th November. There’s loads of projects, many of which don’t incorporate a ‘live’ presence; it’s good to see work that you might not have considered or that’s outside of your ‘comfort zone’, and it might encourage you to develop links with other students working in different subject areas.

Projects include a piece by Yoko Ono, influenced by her previous work as a member of Fluxus, a film by Jesper Just – an artist who makes films that have a beautiful aesthetic and that disrupt conventional narratives to present gender in alternative ways. A couple of other people to see are Annette Messager and David Blandy, who I’ve read about on the website and who I think might be good. Also, Richard Wilson’s Turning the Place Over looks awesome! There’s loads on! So, if people can make it at some point over the next few weeks, check out the website and find something that interests you – if you do go, let me know what you’ve seen, I’d like to know what you thought about it.

However, also check out this site http://www.independentsbiennial.org/, which is for the Independents Biennial – a kind of biennial fringe,  there’s more of a performance aspect to it.
